Abstract:

Plant-based foods with inherent medicinal potential that can even prevent and treat illnesses are known as nutraceuticals. The terms "nutrition" and "pharmaceuticals" are the origins of the term "nutraceuticals."Raw foods, functional foods, or dietary supplements (nutraceuticals) that contain bioactive molecules have the ability to prevent pancreatic cancer. Pancreatic cancer, the 4th leading cause of cancer death in the US, is highly resistant to all current therapies, and its growth is facilitated by chronic inflammation. More than 70% of the world’s surface is covered by oceans; the wide diversity of marine organisms offers a rich source of natural products. Marine environment contains a source of functional materials, including polyunsaturated fatty acids (PUFA), polysaccharides, essential minerals and vitamins, phenolic phlorotannins, enzymes, and bioactive peptides. Because they can shield the body from reactive oxygen species, which assault macromolecules like proteins, membrane lipids, and DNA and cause a variety of illnesses, including cancer, marine nutraceuticals may be beneficial to human health.
