The primary objective of this review is to study the Voglibose tablet. Voglibose is an orodispersible (mouth dissolving) tablet used for the treatment of type 2 diabetes mellitus. This solid dosage form is placed in the mouth and dissolves within 30 seconds without water. Due to rapid disintegration and absorption, this tablet provides a quick and effective way to control type 2 diabetes and postprandial blood glucose levels.
Postprandial hyperglycemia remains a complex aspect in the management of type 2 diabetes mellitus in the Indian population due to uncertainty in the optimal utilization of alpha-glucosidase inhibitors either as standalone therapy or in combination. It may be an independent risk factor for cardiovascular disease morbidity and mortality, as well as arteriosclerosis, hypertension, and hyperlipidemia. Hence, an ideal novel drug can regulate postprandial hyperglycemia.
